Eileen Walter took up fiddling forty years ago and has been jamming, performing, competing, judging, and teaching ever since. She has dabbled in several styles and is a former member of the Portland contradance band Island. She is a former Oregon State and NW Regional Adult and Senior champion. Eileen has studied with some of the country’s finest fiddlers and for the past twelve years has enjoyed passing along her love of fiddling through teaching private lessons, community education classes, workshops, and teaching at camps. She also enjoys performing with her husband, guitarist Jeff Walter. Over the years Eileen has twin fiddled with many partners, and a few years ago won the Oregon State Twin Fiddling championship with her favorite twin fiddle partner Tabby Gholi. She likes to hear twin fiddlers who, in addition to being in tune, balanced in volume, playing good harmony notes, and are together rhythmically, are able to express a similar concept of the tune.
